I grew up in rural Virginia and remain here. Rural life (and living 30 minutes from Shenandoah National Park) gives me a unique opportunity to capture native wildlife. One of my favorite subjects.

Absolute first time I've seen a Barred Owl up (relatively) close. I've since seen them but never with snow, a bit of evening light from the west or this still. Remains my favorite image of the species.

Gentle Protection
One of the more special moments I've seen with the bears in Shenandoah National Park. Mom had seen me about 5 minutes before, watched me diligently and knew I wasn't going to invade her space. Still, she watched me while her cubs played.
